Suddenly a loud yowl sounded from the young mirrorkit. She had stumbled into the water. Her screatching sounded furiously. "silentsong! Help me!" What could not be seen on the now apprentices face were tears. The cold water hid them from sight.

Frostfoot thought he could feel heat coming from the corner in which Silentsong sat. His heart convulsed, but he no longer could feel any emotion; he stood still, sitting by the Moonpool, deep in thought. Finally, the medicine cat glanced over his shoulder and saw her fur rippling in pain.
At least, he thought it was pain.
But pain was easily turned into fury. He deserved all the fury Silentsong had ever felt. For a crazy, unthinkable moment, the icy-footed tom imagined Silentsong plotting to exact her revenge from him. How painful could she make it for him? He hoped he would die under the pain, for that would be enough to bring his emotional pain to his physical body.
But what of SnowClan? Leave them without a medicine cat, in the dead of leaf-bare?
The voice at the back of his mind spoke up, leering softly with a deathly reminder. No! He could not abandon his Clan, even in a painful murder committed by Silentsong. He shook his head, turning away from the sight of his love - his lost love. Besides, Silentsong would never do that, sink to murdering a medicine cat from another Clan. It just wasn't her nature.
Suddenly, Mirrorkit's screeching broke through the air, shattering his masochistic thoughts. He leapt to his feet, spinning around to see the young she-cat drowning - drowning! - in the water. He glanced towards her mentor, before jumping forward, slipping into the cool, sacred waters. He kicked forward powerfully, swimming towards the apprentice.
ooc;; It just wasn't her nature. ooh, how wrong he is about that! ;D

((Poor Frostfoot, he has noooo idea))
Silentsong completely blocked everything out. The screams of her apprentice didn't break her silent hell. Frustration and pain flowed through her. She couldn't take it, she went into a series of convulsions. The world around her went black. She was unconcious. The pain and the fury won her over, they had taken her conciousness. She was breathing shallowly, she din't know if she was headed for StarClan or ifshe was to stay and wander in her hell.

Mirrorpaw looked at Frostfoot as he swam next to her. She looked at her mentor as she crawled onto the bank. Her icy pools narrowed into sad slits. She woundered what she had done for her new mentor to disown her? Did she do anything at all for her mentor to act like this toward her. She turned toward Frostfoot and nodded her thanks and respect. She then turned toward Silentsong and stalked over to her. "Silentsong, Um are you alright?" She asked laying next to her and licking her mentor's left ear. "Whats go you so sad?" She was desprate to tell her mentor about her encounter with starclan. Something was bothering her like thorns from a rose bush and she knew she wouldn't be able to hold it in for very long.[/size]

Frostfoot helped Mirrorpaw back to shore, his fur drenched with the sacred water. He couldn't but wonder if that was an omen of bad fortune - would StarClan mind? But of course they wouldn't, he had been rescuing the apprentice. No harm done, he thought.
He began drying himself, feeling the cool taste of the poolwater on his tongue - it was sweet, and it reminded him of the medicine cat's den, with herbs stored in its depth. It would have reminded him of Silentsong, too, if he hadn't pushed that thought away from him.
His ear flicked as he listened to Mirrorpaw talk to Silentsong, but he didn't want to see her reply so he turned away. The ginger tom stared at the waters, his white paws kneading the stone underfoot anxiously. Now was the time he should go to drink from the water of the Moonpool, but he wanted to wait till Silentsong left. His whiskers twitched, knowing that the night had hardly begun, but he was frightened of running out of moonlight.

((Does anyone notice she's unconcious. What kind of med cats are you?? Geez))
Silentsong's breaths came easier. Blackness still clouded her head.

ooc;; lmfaoo, oops sorry flameh xDDD i didnt realize she was unconscious ^^' ... they're both inexperienced med cats. how are they supposed to help her! rofl XDDD
bic;; Frostfoot turned, seeing Silentsong lying on her side. Blinking in shock, he rose to his white-dipped paws, taking a step forward before stopping himself. DId she really want himto help her? But he knew he could not sit around while she was unconscious - even if it was Silentsong. He still loved her.
The ginger tom padded forward quickly, kneeling next to her and nosing her gently as he examined her. She was still breathing - that was good. The convulsions had died down, and she lay completely still but for the gentle rise and fall of her flanks. He racked his mind, hoping for some simple cure to pop into his mind. It wasn't like he had any help or herbs with him! His tail twitched, jumping up half a mouse length, before falling back to the stony floor.
An echo of Moonglow's voice stirred in his memory, but he couldn't quite reach and pull it out. It was hazy, but he thought . . . no, no, it was gone. Without herbs, he was stuck. WIth a frusterated sigh, Frostfoot sat back. There wasn't anything he could do for Silentsong with no herbs in reach - at least some strong smelling herbs would've brought her back to consciousness, he thought mildly.
"I guess we just have to wait for her to wake," he told Mirrorpaw, his voice slightly hesitant. He was almost a hundred per cent positive there wasn't anything he could do, but Frostfoot wasn't sure. I don't even have my name yet! he growled silently, though he kept the emotion from his visage.

Silentsong slowly awoke. She had left her sleeping hell for the waking hell. She stared up at Frostfoot, her love. She still cared for him. She managed a small purr, and a simple sign, 'I still love you.'

For a moment, as Silentsong gazed at him with dewy eyes, Frostfoot forgot where he was, who he was, what he was. He let a purr ripple gently from his throat to match her's, both throbbing in the air. It was as if his memories had been washed away, leaving him alone with just his would-be mate. It was bliss.
Then, a pebble fell loose from the stony ceiling and plopped loudly into the Moonpool. Ripples spread across the water's surface, and the tomcat remembered everything a jolt. He cleared his throat loudly, and blinked his gaze away, pretending to ignore what he had seen her sign. "You're awake," he pointed out blandly. "That's good. Are you well enough for your journey back to your Clan?"
His voice was polite, but distant, though not unkind. He had cast aside the role of the unrequited lover to assume one of medicine cat. His tail twitched, as he yearned to tell her that he felt the same way - but what good would it cause but more misery for the both of them? If only she would let it be. In just a few short moments, he would be giving up everything for his Clan. He felt like quaking at the thought of such a huge step, but he knew it was what he wanted - to help his Clan as best as possible - more than even the beautiful tabby before him.

Silentsong just smiled and nodded. She would be able to make the journey back. And now she had something cheerful about her path, sharing it with her love.

Frostfoot nodded, smiling a small smile. It was just a tiny hint of a curl at his lips, really. But still, it was a smile. "Great. I will see you and Mirrorpaw at the next half moon, then," he meowed quietly, his eyes meeting Silentsong's for a fraction of a second. The Moonpool did not seem such a place where one could speak too loudly, for the words echoed off the walls and disturbed the sacred feeling that abounded the place.
The tabby's tail twitched and he glanced over his shoulder, his amythest eyes finding Mirrorpaw. It seemed as if the two would need to talk, about whatever had happened to disturb the apprentice's dream. Frostfoot couldn't help but wonder if StarClan would send him a vision now, too.
Probably not. He needed to recieve his name, and training. Moonglow would be ready to mentor him, walking in his dreams to teach him the secrets of the medicine cat. Ginger fur rippled in a full-body shiver at the thought.
